The Way It Burns Release Their Debut Album
The hardcore punk band The Way It Burns recently dropped their first full-length release. The enthusiasm reflected in the band’s name runs through the entire LP.
The band had been working toward this album since their very first rehearsal. They started recording the material in the summer of 2024 and spent a long time perfecting it, reworking a lot of things on the fly.
"I wrote some of the songs, while others came from our second guitarist, and stylistically, they’re pretty different. Still, we decided to put them all together in one release. There were tons of arguments about the sound, so we ended up tweaking the arrangements at the last minute and even adjusting the lyrics. That’s why, to me, this album feels pretty exhausting, and honestly, I’m not entirely satisfied with the result," shares Andrii, the band’s guitarist, reports Neformat.
Most of the instruments were recorded at EF Studio in Lviv, while the drums were tracked at Africa Records.
The heated debates within the band were partly fueled by their differing musical tastes. On one hand, Andrii says, this makes it hard for the group to stick to a single stylistic direction. On the other hand, it gives their sound more variety. Personally, Andrii was aiming for a 90s new-school vibe, similar to Outspoken, Mean Season, and Unbroken. According to him, the track П’єдестал nailed it, while others only captured that energy to some extent.
The band’s name—and the album’s title—was also the subject of countless discussions. In the end, the members agreed on a phrase that resonated with a familiar and deeply meaningful feeling: The Way It Burns.
"For me, those words describe what it feels like during shows. It doesn’t matter if I’m on stage or in the pit—it’s about burning together with the close ones while the music completely tears you apart!" shares Dmytro, the band’s bassist, with Neformat.
The phrase also symbolizes the passion and dedication they poured into making music, which was particularly palpable during the creation of this album.
Now, the band is focused on writing new tracks and continuing to evolve their artistry, including rehearsals and live performances.
The Way It Burns is a hardcore punk band from Lviv, founded by members of Suicideburg. Anton from La Belle Verte took on the role of vocalist, and Dmytro from Mauser joined as bassist. Their music addresses social issues, shares personal experiences, and reflects on the Russo-Ukrainian war. So far, their discography includes one album and several singles.
