Weekly Digest 8-14 March

This week was rich with thrash metal and related genres: new albums were released by The Crown and Enforced; the debut album of the speed metal maniacs Demiser came out. But there is some slow music for you as well – a new album from Eyehategod, exactly a year after escaping from Kyiv, and a live album from Conan. Also chaotic hardcore, roadburn-ish metal, some melodic punk, and a new release from Rob Zombie in our Weekly Digest.

Autarkh – Form In Motion

Very strange music with dissonances, industrial moments, electronics and an intense rhythm section from Tilburg, Netherlands, where the Roadburn Festival takes place. And this band seems to perfectly fit this festival, I'm sure that it will gain much attention from the fans though something is off for me. I wonder if you like it.

Conan – Live At Freak Valley

Conan is one of those bands worth hearing live if you like doom heavy and super loud. And now you have the opportunity to achieve that without leaving home. Listen at max volume for the full immersion.

The Crown – Royal Destroyer

The tenth album by Swedish metalheads, created with love to the 90’s death metal, thrash, punk and even epic heavy metal.

Demiser - Through the Gate Eternal

Demiser is the whiskey- and speed-fueled demon-worshipping metal from hell. This blackened thrash horde has set it out to be the filthiest, evil, satanic speed metal band in the United States. The debut full-length "Through the Gate Eternal" draws on traditional European black thrash mixed with early Teutonic and American thrash. For the fans of - Aura Noir, Motorhead, Venom, and Destroyer 666.

Enforced – Kill Grid

New school of crossover thrash metal! Here you have thrash, punk and hardcore with death metal, great guitar solos and aggressive approach in the spirit of the early Slayer. For the headbangers and those circle pit maniacs, the Virginia band's Century Media debut is a success.

Eyehategod – A History Of Nomadic Behavior

New Orleans sludgers, against who Ukrainian fans still hold a grudge due to the postponed concerts and the Covid scare escape that happened, ironically, exactly a year ago. Today they release the first full-length album since 2014 and only the sixth one in more than thirty years of their career. It's very strange to be able to easily distinguish the vocals of Mike Williams, and in general Eyehategod sounds surprisingly "clean", I personally have nothing against that. Bluesy sludge from the masters, what to say, they know how to do it right. For the sick.

Pupil Slicer – Mirrors

Came for the name, stayed for the music. Pupil Slicer is a female fronted chaotic hardcore / deathgrind trio from London, FFO: The Dillinger Escape Plan, Code Orange and Converge.

Rob Zombie - The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy

Rob Zombie is back with the metal sound, long weird album and song titles, and music videos that look like they are from the early 90’s. Welcome back!

Ship Thieves – Irruption

Fronted by Chris Wollard (Hot Water Music), this band also features Chad Darby (Samiam) on bass, guitarist Addison Burns (Quit, The Enablers), and Bobby Brown (The Enablers). Punk that goes well either with late-night driving or late-night drinking. But please, never mix those!
